Breath Mark dialog box

How to get there

  1. Choose Utilities > SmartMusic Markers. The SmartMusic Markers dialog box appears.
  2. Select Breath Mark from the marker list on the left.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Or, select an existing breath mark marker from the SmartMusic Marker dialog box and click Edit.

What it does

Use the settings in this dialog box to control the measure assignment, and other attributes, for the breath mark you are adding or editing for a classic SmartMusic file. A breath mark marker should be placed on the note ending the breath, and the effect begins one note prior. This marker temporarily slows the tempo (from the prior note) by roughly 80 to 90 percent.

  • Rehearsal Mark • Bar • Note • Repeat. Choose a rehearsal mark, repeat, or specify a bar and note to add a breath mark marker.
  • Current Pitch is: [Pitch]. This field lists the pitch for the selected rehearsal mark, repeat, or specified bar and note.
  • Large Breath • Small Breath. Use these options to select Large Breath to indicate a larger pause or Small Breath to indicate a short pause.
  • Cancel • OK. Click OK (or press RETURN) to confirm, or Cancel to discard, the changes you’ve made to the SmartMusic Marker you are adding/editing and return to the SmartMusic Markers dialog box.
