How to get there
Choose the Page Layout tool

What it does
This menu includes a wide range of formatting and reformatting options for multiple elements of your document, including systems, margins, and pages. See Page layout.
- Insert Blank Pages • Delete Blank Pages. Choose these commands to display the Insert Blank Pages dialog box or Delete Blank Pages dialog box, where you can add or remove blank pages anywhere in your score.
- Insert Page Break • Delete Page Break. Choose these commands to force a selected system to appear at the top of a page (indicated by the Page Break icon
) or force a page break to be removed and allow the system to float. - Insert Staff Systems • Delete Staff Systems. Choose these commands to display the Insert Staff Systems dialog box, where you can insert a
systemA system is one line of connected staves across the page. or systems into your score without disturbing current systems, or delete one or more selected systems and its contents without reflowing surrounding systems. - Redefine Pages. Use this submenu to apply changes made in the Page Format for Score dialog box or Page Format for Parts dialog box to the pages in the score or part. See Redefine Pages submenu.
- Space Systems Evenly. Choose this command to display the Space Systems Evenly dialog box, where you can define how systems are evenly spaced vertically and make maximum use of the page. You can even tell it to skip pages that are only partially full.
- Avoid Margin Collision. Choose this command to prevent systems from being dragged on top of each other or beyond page margins. This option also prevents page margins from being dragged beyond the boundaries of the page. This option is selected by default.
- Update Page Format for Score. Choose this command to have changes made in the Page Layout tool apply to the Page Format For Score dialog box. You can then apply these changes to all pages of the score using the Redefine Pages submenu.
- Systems. Use this submenu to update the layout and spacing of the staff systems in your document. See Systems submenu.
- Page Margins. Use this submenu to update the margins of any or all pages in your document. See Page Margins submenu.
- Page Size. Choose this command to display the Page Size dialog box, where you can define the size of the paper Finale allows for the music. Finale’s page and the page of your printer can be two different sizes and/or orientations. See Printing.
